Às Duas por Três have been shortlisted for Lobby/Public Areas – Europe Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2023.

Nicola Rossio Hotel is a harmonious blend of history and modernity, situated in the heart of Lisbon city centre. The interior designers, Às Duas por Três, were inspired by the centenary Nicola Café and the surrounding Rossio Plaza. They aimed to capture the essence of the deco and geometric style prevalent in its surroundings, and create a timeless ambiance throughout the hotel.

The result is a stunning display of materials and shapes that permeate the entire building. The use of walnut wood, nero marquina marble stone, and golden brass highlights the opulence and sophistication of the hotel. The black and white tones characteristic of the pavement in the Rossio Plaza which is presented in a wave shape are also featured throughout the interior space, creating a seamless connection between the hotel and its surroundings.

One of the key features of the Nicola Rossio Hotel is its lobby area. It creates a visual impact for passersby and clients, showcasing the designer’s excellent attention to detail. The lobby area is a harmonious blend of deco and geometric styles, with intricate furniture details, mirrors, and geometric shapes, which create a luxurious and modern ambiance. The striking green sage colour is a direct inspiration from two statues situated in the Rossio Plaza fountains. These statues, made of bronzed iron, have aged over time, developing a beautiful greenish patina. This incorporation is both visually stunning and meaningful.

The public areas of the hotel are equally impressive, featuring plush furnishings, sleek lighting fixtures and exquisite colours and materials creating an inviting and sophisticated atmosphere.
