Ventura Design has been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – Europe Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2021.
While Ventura was responsible for designing 110 apartments at the Greystones development overall, the Penthouse offered a wonderful and unique opportunity to devise a classic contemporary look that the company is so renowned for. The Marina Village Super Penthouse is a luxury, three bedroomed space with wrap-around balcony and far reaching views to Bray Head and the Irish Sea.
The brief was to create a complete turnkey 2500m square foot penthouse with 3 ensuite double bedrooms that took full advantage of the location’s spectacular views and create a welcoming, calming and tranquil interior. With deep seated sofas, armchairs, ambient lighting and a range of Ventura accessories such as cushions, lamps and throws the scheme was devised by Creative Director Arlene McIntyre who has put her extensive interior design skills to excellent use. Ventura’s team of master craftsmen based at their workshops in Dublin made all the custom pieces of furniture and joinery throughout the penthouse. This is one of Ventura’s greatest assets, having over 50 artisans working and building all their furniture to each project or customer specification.
Located on the top floor of this exclusive development the creation of a wrap-around balcony with sea views was the starting point for the inspiration for the project, the lay out of the rooms and the need to incorporate the aspect and panoramic views at every occasion. The opportunity to have the space to work with was a luxury, and with Ventura’s experience in creating classic contemporary interiors the starting point of the interior design was to skilfully divide the living space so that there were individual relaxation and dining areas with sea views. The designers created a natural division between the two rooms with a large bespoke built-in bookcase, which catered to both the living and dining areas of the penthouse. The aim was to ensure that the rooms ‘flowed’ effortlessly and provided a space that was both luxurious and timeless.
The functional kitchen was given a smart Scandi look and the colours were all chosen throughout to complement and flow. The master bedroom headboard was a stand-out statement piece that gives a sense of style without competing with the amazing views. Throughout the process, Ventura’s aim was always to take full advantage of the location and the sea views. Therefore, window dressings were kept simple and neutral. The selected textiles are smooth textured and tactile. Each room feels cohesive and does not attempt to fight with the natural beauty that is just outside the windows.
