Tell us a little about your background in design:
I trained in Interior Design at The Inchbald School of design. I then worked for various companies for 10 years before setting up on my own just over 10 years ago. Have been busy ever since!

How would you describe your personal design style?
Relaxed and informal but neat. I like things to be orderly but casual and cosy– it is a fine balance.

Where does your design inspiration come from?
Everywhere! I love art and literature and movies and take inspiration from it all, and of course from nature.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
I feel that design is becoming more mindful of the environment and that people want to live in sustainable homes that do not make them feel guilty.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in 2020 and beyond.
1. Mindfulness
2. Environmentally friendly
3. Healthful and a nod towards wellbeing
4. Calmness and serenity
5. Elegance and beauty

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to design schemes, what would it be?
Trust your instinct. Always.

How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?
So important – it is a real way for us in the industry to feel we have been recognised for our hard work and dedication

What projects are you currently working on?
We are currently running 3 London projects, a Suffolk country house, a Norfolk country house and a West Sussex beach house.

What was your favourite project to work on and why?
That is so hard – I find all my projects equally challenging and pleasing. I have loved working on the beach house for its relaxed and informal vibe.

What was your most challenging project to work on and why?
An extension in London that became a major planning headache! But we survived!

Which products/services could you not live without when designing?
Vectorworks, Pinterest, Instagram

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
Continue what we are doing and to expand – also to help my new charity that I have become involved in – United in Design.
