Kendall Wilkinson Design have been shortlisted for Luxury Residence – Americas Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards 2023.

Nestled in the rolling hills of Woodside, California is this expansive home for a young family. Bold and inviting colours are present throughout the house, with a level of unparalleled sophistication.

The design brief was for a brand new ground-up construction of a 17,000 square-foot compound comprising the main house, a guest house, and a pool house nestled among acres of magnificent and lush Woodside, California country. The clients who usually strive to remain private and are outwardly conservative asked Kendall for a “colourful and fun” home. Her favourite colour is pink, and when Kendall proposed bubble-gum pink lacquered walls in the living room, the homeowner loved it. Kendall is not a maximalist, but this project shows an entirely new side to her repertoire, filled with bold, bright colours and intelligently layered patterns and textures.

With four young children, there was an emphasis on zoning spaces and practicality hence the magnificent open-concept kitchen with lots of natural stone and custom Blue Star appliances with lower drawers specifically designed to hold everyday plates as it is expected the kids set the table and participate in dinner. The primary bedroom is a bit darker and sexier hidden away from the children’s wing and set with its own private patio. The entry welcomes you into this bold, bright, and happy world with the dining and living rooms off to each side.

This design works so well because it is a true reflection of how all good things work together. When you pair an exquisite design plan that marries the client’s desires and a designer’s skill set — magic happens. Kendall Wilkinson Design employed the most talented painters and craftspeople to execute the design plan, as well as purveying furniture, textiles, wall-coverings, rugs, art & accessories from across the high-end and luxury sphere.
