The brief required the entirety of this London landmark hotel to be renovated whilst still operating at its exceptional level of internationally recognised guest service. All 181 guestrooms, suites and public areas were to be renovated with new interiors by Joyce Wang including all finishes, fittings and furniture throughout. Located on Hyde Park, the interiors were to layer modern luxe aesthetic with the early 20th century golden age of travel, reflecting both its history and location. This was to be interpreted as curved art deco-inspired custom designed furniture, hand-etched mirrors, rich leader tufted headboards, Volakas marble-lined bathrooms and the hand-painted gilded silk wall coverings.

Two new penthouse suites directly overlooking Hyde Park were to be created by extending the 9th floor supplementing the existing luxury suites favoured by European Royalty and heads of state. The brief required a dining room with retractable walls enabling one grand 3-bedroom penthouse suite with panoramic terraces. The reception was to be reconfigured to improve the guest arrival experience, all the function rooms were to be renovated throughout including the famous Ballroom and Loggia. These were to be fully restored and re-gilded to the splendour of their original design.

The brief required Adam Tihany to update the Heston Blumenthal Dinner and Bar Boulud restaurants, transforming the MoBar as well as the Spa with a new Oriental suite featuring a Rasul water temple and a Bastien Gonzalez Pedi:Mani:Cure Studio with floral art walls of Chinese symbolism. The history and prime location facing Knightsbridge and overlooking Hyde Park have been interwoven and used as a reference point throughout all of the interior renovations to be translated into every detail of this London landmark hotel.
