Hotel Golden Costa Salou is located just a few meters from La Pineda Beach. The hotel offers 168 rooms, and an adult only experience. The main inspirations for Merce Borrell when considering this project were the Mediterranean Sea, and the pleasure that can be found in being surrounded by beautiful things.

The design brief given to Merce Borrell was to enhance luxury and sensitivity in the hotel, with the purpose of differentiating itself from others in the area. To do this, the designers wanted the guests of Hotel Golden Costa to feel a state of surprise and magic when entering and experiencing each of the hotel’s spaces.

The design of each space on the lower floor is in harmony with each other, to create a calming flow between reception, bar, restaurant, lobby, pool and garden. The main hall ensures that guests are welcomed into a luxurious space, with high ceilings that immediately transmit the sense of majesty. These are paired with ceramics and natural woods to create a spectacular impression.

The restaurant was given a ceramic feature wall in order to highlight the area, and the ceiling is detailed with sinuous waves as an allusion to the movement of the sea. This also allowed Merce Borrell to play with the illumination of the space, which is carried through to the bar area. Here, the lighting as well as the singular materials for the pillars, wall and bar gives the opulent touch that the designers were searching for in this space.

Hotel Golden Costa offers its guests the chance to disconnect, and Merce Borrell highlighted this with a comfortable yet luxurious design. The rooms show a delicate and evolving character, to ensure that the guests are provided with a comfortable experience. On the rooftop terrace guests will find a swimming pool and amazing views of the La Pineda beach. For the spa, the designers played with the illumination to make a distinction of the different areas. The materials used in this area are a key aspect to providing a relaxing atmosphere.
