Hockley House is a blend of new and old, with open spacial planning and allows for an abundance of light. The Country House was a renovation & rebuild project taken on by ColeDesign Studio, with the task of updating and elevating the home whilst retaining its original features and warm character.

The space is designed to flow easily using an expansive room as the core of the design, combining the living, dining and kitchen areas, and specialty pocketing doors to open and close the space as required for privacy. The views from the 2nd Floor lookover and the main living area cover acres of rolling hills and woods, gifting the atmosphere of soaring space, though the option of escaping to smaller areas provides a feeling of comfort and safety. ColeDesign Studio ensured that the views to beyond were clear and uncluttered. The floor to ceiling windows deliver uninterrupted views out to the landscape. It is this landscape that inspired ColeDesign Studio for the interiors, with atmospheric colour tones and natural textures of concrete, copper and pine among other woods.

The overarching ambience is textured, layered, and warm. The fireplace is a standout feature in this space, spanning from floor to ceiling and also connects the kitchen and dining area to unify the home. ColeDesign Studio also considered axis lines to provide beautiful moments for the eye to land upon, whether this be the character of the exposed beams or the placing of floor tiles designed to create a pathway. Hidden detail can be found in the custom elements, such as the hand-blown light fixtures, and the stone and copper counters. By creating a semi-minimal and comfortable home, ColeDesign Studio allows the homeowners space for themselves but also room for guests if they wish, offering spaces for comfort, entertainment, and dining with a crowd.
