Project Name: Project Doha, Qatar

Location: Doha, Qatar

Interior Designer: Yvette Taylor London

Yvette Taylor London was appointed to furnish the elegant 6-bedroom villa with an additional quest house located at the “Pearl”, the unique manmade island in Qatar. The family wanted to create different entertaining areas for family and guests. The dining room offers seating for 16 and the request for the ladies living room was the same. It was challenging to create an interior which would sit so many people in a 50m2 room.

The aim was to keep the room as light possible, use elegant, luxury pieces of furniture, and direct the visitors’ attention to the art and the stunning chandelier. The walls were decorated with cream tone sandstone tiles with modest linear décor. An exceptional mural made by a Chinese artist acts as living art. The panel 300xh.180c, is created with hundreds of petal leaves made from rose paper each visually showing different colour when viewed from opposite sides. As a result, the art completely changes its colour depending on the viewing angle. On the opposite wall Yvette Taylor London used tetraptych from Jessica Zoob.

The four sofas with brass frames were upholstered with cream velvet. The four central coffee tables with gold calacatta marble tops and sides were also upholstered with stitched cream, nubuck leather were produced by Rugiano. The bespoke rug design by Yvette Taylor London was commissioned in India. The stunning chandelier made of 350 hand blown leaves in three different colours was made in Czech Republic by Sanssoucci.

The more masculine reception room for the men, located on the other side of the villa, was decorated entirely by Flexform using their eclectic collection, Happy chairs upholstered in leather and Cestone sofas in soft cream cotton. The bespoke rug design by Yvette Taylor and reflecting the waves of the sea visible in near distance was also commissioned in India. To add warmth to the room, the walls and ceilings were panelled with stained iroko. Grey calacatta marble was used for the flooring. The room has direct access to the pool and garden area.
