THE HARRODS SUITE, CALA DI VOLPE HOTEL BY HARRODS INTERIOR DESIGN

Harrods Interior Design have been shortlisted for Hotel Suite – Global Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2021.

This was a special opportunity to amalgamate two iconic brands, combining Hotel Cala Di Volpe’s Sardinian Indigenous luxury with Harrods excellence. The design brief centred around creating luxury experiences that can be had in the Suite, from enjoying a glass of wine fresh from the cellar in intimate nooks to hosting candlelit dinner parties on the private rooftop. Very special but also offering all the comforts of a second home. In the design gently layered raw and refined materials come together to entice all the senses, creating a unique embodiment of elegant living.
Each design feature reinterprets ideas of comfort and grandeur; the soft curving edges of the walls combine with the atmospheric hidden lighting design, simultaneously luxurious materials, such as bronze textured glass and burnished finishes, create depth and warmth. Interior highlights include the marble herringbone flooring paired with hand cut mosaic tiling for the en-suites, a striking fluted limestone feature wall reminiscent of interior columns in Harrods, sculptural bespoke pieces, and glass artworks throughout.

THE PARK SUITE AT THE STAFFORD HOTEL BY ROSENDALE DESIGN 

Rosendale Design have been shortlisted for Hotel Suite -Europe Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2021.

The Park Suite retains the quintessential British roots the Stafford are known for and Rosendale Design employed British brands to help root the new design. Due to the hotel’s close proximity to St. James Park and Green Park, a floral concept was employed.
The design brief was to reimagine the main house rooms at the hotel, taking into the next chapter of the hotel’s fabled history. The client team were keen to see how they could better utilise smaller rooms without losing too many ‘keys’. The Stafford is renowned with North American and International guests and gives its clientele a quintessential British experience. Retaining these roots were of paramount importance.
The fact that this was originally 2 small rooms and were only intended to be redecorated until Rosendale Design carried out an architectural survey and found the possibility to take 2 smaller rooms and turn them into a statement suite, was a great surprise to the client team. This coupled with the fact that one of the rooms overlooked a sprawling un-utilised mansard roof, Rosendale proposed to make structural changes to allow the roof top become a terrace with unparalleled views across the London skyline towards the London Eye.

DESIGNER PROFILE: MANUELA MANNINO & NICHOLAS J HICKSON, OWNERS OF THDP 

Tell us a little about your background in design.
Manuela is an Italian architect with a background in history of architecture studies, Nick is a British interior designer, with furniture design background.
How would you describe your personal interior design style?
Eclectic with attention to technical specifications, our designs need to perform in a tough environment
Where does your design inspiration come from?
It is a mix generated by the location of the hotel mainly, it is lucky if we find an artist that fits the concept and is willing to take on the project. This is very rewarding as a final result.
In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
We expect more upcycling of old hotel furniture in the future, it will be interesting to create rooms that last longer and can be refreshed often, without throwing everything away
