Ammar Basheir Creative Studio Make The Shortlist

Ammar Basheir Creative Studio was tasked with the restoration of a traditional Bahraini house to a 6 suite luxury boutique hotel. Situated in the old streets of Muharraq, the hotel is largely inspired by the mythical epic of Gilgamesh’s The Flower of Eternity. Though the designer wanted to give the hotel a contemporary feel, Ammar Basheir felt it was crucial to stay respectful and keep the essence of the traditional home intact.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
Clients are becoming more aware of the market and in turn are becoming increasingly more bold and dynamic in their way of thinking.  Especially in the MENA region – everything is “bigger and better” than the last. Boundaries are dissolving, with projects currently under development that exceed the visions of commercial and hospitality venues undertaken previously. We are moving into an era of the highest creativity and innovation thanks to technological advances and the increasing use of social media.
