The Best of Europe (Hospitality)

The International Hotel & Property Awards 2021:
The 10th Anniversary

MIXD Make The Shortlist

The ibis Styles Sarajevo hotel by Mixd is a tale inspired by the 1984 Winter Olympics about a city that could not be overcome by a cruel war and impresses with its joy of life. The hotel guests find themselves in a place where cultures meet, where amazing traditional crafts coexist with modern life, where they can enjoy delicious cuisine, excellent coffee and winter sports. This is a city hotel design with strong local flavour, embracing the history, culture and lifestyle of Sarajevo.

How would you describe your personal design style?
That is a difficult question – interior design has so many faces and so many styles. It always depends on the client’s brief and wishes, which always lead us to individual and exciting designs. Our style is inspired by music, fashion, art and of course the political situation around the world. But to cut a long story short, I would say our style is influenced by the things which surround us and make people happy.

Look Back At 2018

The main objective for El Equipo Creativo was to create a hotel which exuded an atmosphere of liberty and diversion with a certain disruptive touch which invited a varied clientele to enter the public areas of the hotel to enjoy the gastronomic offer. In order to achieve this atmosphere, the most important strategy in the design is the use of colour, an element which accompanies us throughout all the areas of the hotel and which is applied with different character and material nature in each zone. Another of the principal strategies is the introduction of graphic and textual elements reminiscent of the neighbourhood’s literary past.
