Alexandra Kidd Design have been shortlisted for Residential Property by Value £20 Million Plus Award in The International Design and Architecture Awards.

With a brief that referenced the Obamas’ post-White House home, the finished home is timeless, with a focus on luxury and scale. The clients, inveterate travellers with a penchant for the US, had long fallen in love with the luxurious homes dotted along America’s East Coast. They envied the open-plan living spaces and generously scaled rooms with their relaxed elegance, and classic features.

The design brief was simple enough but the execution and delivery was on a grand scale all of its own. The expansive 5-bedroom, 4-level family home felt anything but spacious.

YC Interior Design & Consultant Company have been shortlisted for Interior Design Scheme – Global Award in the International Design and Architecture Awards. 

The aim for this project was to blend together the art of painting, fashion colours and a cozy space as these were important to the owner without feeling distant and vice versa, as a museum of art. Consciousness to the owner of the property’s wishes is extremely important as it helps to create the identity of the space and the sense of beauty in drawing are always treasured!

YC Companies intentions of a residential project is to create a space that is practical and conventional for the client to live in but to also add a contemporary touch. This has been achieved through new construction ‘s techniques, indirect light, flatness, strong colour of stone.

This project has a strong mix between minimalism to contemporary elegance and has been done through using strong and neutral colour used alongside each other, Tables, chairs, cabinets between contemporary, semi-classical. Art collected painting, art works arranged to create a harmonious atmosphere from outside to inside but not separated and vice versa, which is seamless and consistent with the same language.

How would you describe your personal interior design style?
I strive to create spaces that are unexpected, exciting, rich in meaning and detail and are tailored specifically to each client. I believe luxury is defined by experience. It’s that gasp when you walk into an awe inspiring space, or a sigh when you sit in a wonderfully comfortable couch and gaze around a room thinking “ this is living” . There are really no rules in how to achieve this set of emotions in an interior, however I do know that great design has good proportion, beautiful materials and detailing. I also feel like it is like any amazing work of art, it has a deep concept and that underpins the creation. Luxury is about the execution of this craft and about it being tailored specifically to you, and your wants and desires.

Where does your design inspiration come from?
Each project has its own unique theme and idea which is born from the site, the client and the brief and is often inspired by nature or art. To do this it requires a collective of people to come together with one vision working on disparate parts of the project to enable a consistent whole. I think our firm is unique in our approach to retain that concept throughout every design decision within the entire project.
