The Best of Asia Pacific Hospitality Design vol. 4

Harmony World Consultant & Design have been shortlisted for Lobby/ Public Areas – Global Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2021. 

The designer takes nature, art, light and shadow as elements to create a dialogue between human settlements and cities. The project is located in Xi ‘an, China, a city with a history of more than 3,500 years. The designer combines the city’s cultural heritage with the surrounding natural environment to create a contemporary art space. This is something that must be carefully considered as it is difficult to create a space that is fully functioning with all these elements however HWCD have managed to do this as they all tie together.

Roito Inc have been shortlisted for Restaurant Global Award in The International Hotel and Property Awards 2021.

The designer had two themes in mind when designing the Morozoff flagship store. The first theme is designing the store that is still beloved by existing customers. The second one is creating a design that gives inspiration to the future of the brand. The product logo of “Arcadia”, one of the represented product lines from Morozoff has a familiar graphic design acknowledged by the public and it means utopia in the ancient Greek language.

Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc)

I am designing for the last 34 years. I worked on projects in many locations in Asia, USA, Australia and Europe, and in most of the building types.

How would you describe your personal design style?

I always like simple but elegant design. It tells more about the content and characteristics. My designs are always be a synergy of economics and aesthetics.

Where does your design inspiration come from?

Inspiration comes from everywhere in my daily life: seeing things, buildings and activities while walking, talking with people and friends, traveling, reading a magazine or an advertisement, having gourmets, etc. I try to see the possible relationship from putting different things together, things that might not be in the same category, and to find new and fit design solutions.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?

Today, design speaks more than its appearance and functions. Its more and more representing our living, our economy, our culture and our intellectual advancement.
